Richard Poe's reading of Per Petterson's OUT STEALING HORSES is an example of one of his true strengths as a narrator--the ability to disappear into the story. His nuanced portrayals always enhance the text, providing the perfect conduit from story to listener.--[2008]
Offers skillful, nuanced narrations that deserve our attention. Look for George Packer's THE ASSASSINS' GATE and Cormac McCarthy's BLOOD MERIDIAN or Jane Hamilton's WHEN MADELINE WAS YOUNG .--2007 Narrator Yearbook
New York actor Richard Poe has a long string of TV ("Star Trek"), film (Born on the Fourth of July), and stage credits to match his growing audiobook accolades. Richard's fine narration of EAST OF EDEN by John Steinbeck is an Audie Award Finalist in the Classics category. Other recent books include Don DeLillo's UNDERWORLD and Jane Smiley's GOOD FAITH , but the title catching the most attention is ANGELS & DEMONS by THE DA VINCI CODE's Dan Brown. Richard says he likes to "disappear" into a book and to nuance the sentiment and drama. His skill in setting a mood and "dressing the set" of a scene is often evident. Perhaps he gets a little extra coaching from his wife, Recorded Books Executive Producer Claudia Howard.
